{"id":2284,"date":"2023-10-26T15:31:09","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T15:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/core-usa.org\/?p=2284"},"modified":"2023-10-26T15:31:10","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T15:31:10","slug":"what-are-core-clients-thankful-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/core-usa.org\/index.php\/2023\/10\/26\/what-are-core-clients-thankful-for\/","title":{"rendered":"What Are CORE Clients Thankful For?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>What Are CORE Clients Thankful For?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As Thanksgiving approaches, we at CORE are grateful for the abundant blessings that God has bestowed upon us.&nbsp; He has granted us the miracle of recovery and the opportunity to help others in need.&nbsp; We are humbled by God&#8217;s grace and the many favors that we have received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a recent CORE event, we chased down as many of our clients as we could catch and asked them a simple question: \u201c<em>Who or what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season<\/em>?\u201d&nbsp; While some seemed a bit nonplussed by the recorder placed before them, each took a deep breath and summoned the courage to speak.&nbsp; We think everybody had something valuable to share.&nbsp; Here are their awesome responses!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-top has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m really indebted to God for my recovery.\u00a0 He\u2019s at the forefront; my recovery starts and ends with Him.\u00a0 For my friends and all the staff at CORE, I\u2019m very thankful.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad that I can enjoy life today, as opposed to the 25 years of what it was before<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Adam G<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>My relationship with the Lord is most important, because I couldn\u2019t have done this without Him.\u00a0 I\u2019m very blessed today.\u00a0 And it\u2019s because of Him that I was able to repair things with my mom and my dad.\u00a0 That\u2019s awesome, because I never thought that would happen.\u00a0 And I love the fact that I have a job where I can help people.\u00a0 I get to oversee the greatest group of girls ever, and I\u2019m very grateful for that<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Robin T<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m grateful for sobriety and recovery.\u00a0 I\u2019m so thankful for my daughter.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got a great daughter, you know?\u00a0 She\u2019s such a good kid, and I\u2019m so happy to be there for her again.\u00a0 Also, I\u2019m very blessed that she\u2019s got a good mother<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0 <br>\u2013 Christopher M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>God, for His grace and forgiveness.\u00a0 For saving me and allowing my recovery.\u00a0 I\u2019m happy to be alive today.\u00a0 And thankful for CORE, too, because this program saved my life<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Audrey H<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I wouldn\u2019t be where I\u2019m at if not for God.\u00a0 He\u2019s been my rock through all this.\u00a0 Sobriety isn\u2019t always rainbows and sunshine, but he makes challenges manageable, somehow easier.\u00a0 I\u2019m also thankful for the people in my life pushing me to grow.\u00a0 With their love and support I\u2019ve been able to strive and achieve my goals<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0<br> \u2013 Gavin L<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201cThere\u2019s so many people. First and foremost, I\u2019m thankful to God, who gave me a second chance at life. And for this program, the women at my house, and my children and people looking after them. I\u2019m grateful to be alive today.\u201d <br>\u2013 Katie R<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201cI\u2019m grateful to God, and to the people who showed me the way out of addiction. I\u2019m really thankful for the opportunity to help others and show them what I\u2019ve found at CORE. I\u2019m glad to give back, to pay it forward.\u201d <br>\u2013 Neil F<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>If it wasn\u2019t for the fellowship and friends I have here at CORE, I don\u2019t know where I\u2019d be.\u00a0 They supported me throughout.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never really had a family, my whole life.\u00a0 The people here are like my sisters and my brothers.\u00a0 They\u2019re okay with being leaned on when I need help and support.\u00a0 And I\u2019m thankful for God.\u00a0 He opened my heart and mind to see the world differently and in a better way.\u00a0 I have happiness and joy in my life.\u00a0 He changed me<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Megan B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful that God has given me the opportunity and gift of teaching newcomers how to recover by sharing the 12 Steps that were given to me.\u00a0 Pass it on.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful for a great family,\u00a0 the relationship with my son, my parents, and getting to see my brother and nephews.\u00a0 And I\u2019m grateful to Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for my sins.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t deserve that, but He did it for me anyway<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Nick B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>What am I thankful for?\u00a0 Everything!\u00a0 My work family, my real family, and the opportunities open to me.\u00a0 With God, the sky\u2019s the limit.\u00a0 God can do all things<\/em>!\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Jen B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for everything God\u2019s done since I turned my life over to Christ, the connection to my children and family back home, and for my new family here.\u00a0 I\u2019m grateful for everything \u2013 the program, my new outlook on life, my job, and that I\u2019m not running the streets anymore<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0<br> \u2013 Owen H<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I was given a second chance with God.\u00a0 A long time ago I gave up and left Him.\u00a0 But then He found me, and it\u2019s been wonderful.\u00a0 I love it<\/em>!\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Caren B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for CORE.\u00a0 They never gave up on me.\u00a0 It\u2019s like that verse in the Bible where you go after that sheep.\u00a0 I feel like God found me through CORE.\u00a0 I\u2019d tuned Him out.\u00a0 I had resentments and selfishness.\u00a0 But when I became open, willing, and honest, I started working the 12 Steps and all the negativity got removed.\u00a0 God moved in and changed me<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0<br> \u2013 Gabriel T<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for my family.\u00a0 They were always there for me, even when I wasn\u2019t there for them.\u00a0 For my dad, especially, for giving me that tough love and doing what was right.\u00a0 And my kids, who are wonderful, I\u2019m able to be in their lives again.\u00a0 And I\u2019m very grateful for God, who\u2019s responsible for my recovery.\u00a0 I prayed to Him.\u00a0 He answered my prayer and got me to where I needed to be<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Cricket I.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for leaders in this program who have the kindness to tell me what I need to hear instead of what I want to hear.\u00a0 And in a loving way, the way that makes me grow as a person.\u00a0 They\u2019re like family who I can depend on.\u00a0 And, of course, I\u2019m thankful for God and His will for my life.\u00a0 Looking around this room is a great reminder of why I\u2019m here.\u00a0 I\u2019m able to help the newcomer who comes here just like I did.\u00a0 Ultimately, I\u2019m very grateful for that<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Dallas C<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I had a stroke that should have taken my life.\u00a0 I\u2019d been a 40-year long drug user, in the hospital and paralyzed all along my left side.\u00a0 I lost a business, everything I owned, and had no place to go.\u00a0 I came to CORE in flip flops.\u00a0 It was only by being humbled that I found my way to God.\u00a0 Today, I\u2019m walking.\u00a0 I commenced this program, and I am in the Second Mile.\u00a0 I volunteer at the hospital and can even help Second Milers along the road.\u00a0 Who am I thankful for?\u00a0 I owe my life to God<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Brian L<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for rock bottom.\u00a0 I believed in God but never really had a relationship with Him.\u00a0 I had to burn every option, every bridge, until God was the only option.\u00a0 Had I never hit rock bottom, I never would have found God.\u00a0 I have a new life now.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to pick just one thing I\u2019m thankful for today.\u00a0 I appreciate every moment now.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad to be able to show others that it is possible to get out of addiction and not be bound in chains<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Kristi K<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for so much, my family and health, and my sobriety.\u00a0 I\u2019m grateful to the Holy Spirit, who gives guidance and direction through conviction and leads me to bigger challenges.\u00a0 And thankful for CORE, which showed me the way out \u2013 how to make a connection with God.\u00a0 I\u2019m also thankful to be able to serve, to get out of my comfort zone, and be able to help others<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Jeremy H<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m grateful to God for everything, for restoring my connection back with my family, and for giving me a second chance at life.\u00a0 I\u2019m very thankful for my CORE family.\u00a0 The fellowship got me through some rough times<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0<br> \u2013 Jen M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>God made it possible for me to be whole again.\u00a0 I\u2019m able to be with my family now.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful to God, this program, and the 12 Steps.\u00a0 I appreciate my mom for never giving up.\u00a0 I get emotional just thinking about that<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Brian F<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for CORE and for coming here. I totally believe that if you give God control of your life that he will restore and establish you where you need to be.\u00a0 I\u2019m so thankful for my family and the relationships that have been restored.\u00a0 And for God, who made me whole.\u00a0 My eyes have been opened.\u00a0 I have a good work ethic and believe in myself.\u00a0 I\u2019m committed to helping other people, which I believe is very important<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Heather S<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I was talking with the guys about this last night in the living room.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful that God has given me a new attitude and a new heart. \u00a0 Today I understand that the important things I will do are often the things in my past life I rarely wanted to do.\u00a0 God has given me new vision, and especially an attitude of humility and service, which only He can accomplish<\/em>.\u201d <br>\u2013 Nick Z<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful that I got into a recovery program that saved my life.\u00a0 CORE showed me how to get closer to God.\u00a0 And now I can fill my cup and give it to the girls in my house so they can find the peace and serenity that I have<\/em>.\u201d <br>\u2013 Jeanna K<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m grateful to God.\u00a0 He\u2019s the reason why I\u2019m recovered.\u00a0 He brought me back to where I am today.\u00a0 I\u2019m really thankful for CORE and my family.\u00a0 They\u2019re the best<\/em>!\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Daniel B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>Just thinking about everybody makes me want to cry.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful for my relationship with God and for my family.\u00a0 And my sobriety.\u00a0 Today, I\u2019m thankful for everything in my life<\/em>!\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Alexandria P<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for new beginnings, because without a second chance in life, I wouldn\u2019t even be here.\u00a0 And for God, who offered his Son for the forgiveness of all of our sins.\u00a0 Family and friends, too, and my children.\u00a0 And everybody at CORE \u2013 for the great community<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0 <br>\u2013 Bracy S<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-left has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"color:#ffffff\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m grateful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.\u00a0 And my family.\u00a0 I\u2019m also thankful for the family and friends I have here at CORE, who are my support group, the people I spend my time with and who I look up to.\u00a0 I owe God everything, without Him my life wouldn\u2019t be possible<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Dylan B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"at-core-right\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m thankful for being here in Branson, at CORE, to start my life over again and build up the tools that I need to be successful on my own.\u00a0 I\u2019m very grateful to God.\u00a0 He put good people in my life and made big moves in my life.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been growing closer to Him, praying more fervently, and recognizing His will for my life<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u2013 Terrance M<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Are CORE Clients Thankful For?
