SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
Neighborhood Clean Up
Clients and staff regularly police the local neighborhood surrounding the CORE Center. Trash and debris are collected and disposed of by CORE volunteers. The volunteers deliver flyers notices about neighborhood issues for the local homeowner’s neighborhood association.
Convoy of Hope
CORE and Second Mile participants partner with area not for profit agencies in many areas. It is a part of recovery to give back to the community and to serve others. Convoy of Hope is a partner agency that provides disaster relief all over the world.
2nd Mile: Adopt-A-Highway
“The Second Mile” program is open to anyone who has completed working the steps and has commenced from the one year CORE program of recovery. This is a one year program that emphasizes leadership and servitude. Successful applicants will perform 100 hours of volunteer service within the one year and attend monthly sessions on leadership and how to live in the steps.
Happy Class
CoxHealth has presented the “HAPPY Life” program to CORE clientele in a series also open to the public. HAPPY Life presents information on healthy life choices and how to engage an increasingly complicated health care system. HAPPY Life is the result of CORE’s partnership with CoxHealth under the Expanding Coverage Initiative funded by Missouri Foundation for Health and has been presented in the Branson and Springfield locations. The Grassroots Outreach program is an extension of this successful partnership and an additional benefit to clients. CORE and CoxHealth have coordinated to provide the “Happy Life” program to the recovery community and because of this association they are well prepared to conduct this outreach effort to the unique populations that they serve. CORE believes this effort will help to improve the overall health condition of this underserved population.
